It was all Adam. Somehow he navigated through the plethora of mangled sentences I threw at him. Somehow he got it to sound great.

You guys may wanna know, there was another podcast about making web comics from 2008 – 2009, called “Gutter Talk.” I just tried to search you guy on Beyond Pod, to subscribe, and that one popped up. lol

Just in case you had people trying to find you with their podcast apps, and got confused.

Great Inaugural podcast MC.com. Really looking forward to more great content – it sounds like you guys have a great vision for MC. Keep the good stuff coming. Are there plans for a forum like the old site had? or do you plan to use some other alternative for community interaction?

      N. Kraken, we are hard at work trying to figure out the best approach to the community aspect of the site. You will definitely see community interaction when the MOOC starts up as it will be needed for some of the class assignments. The long term vision definitely includes community aspects which will be announced ASAP. -Patrick

I have already read through Unnatural Talent, and it was a refreshing perspective on the whole Making Comics world. I’ve ready through Both versions of “How to make Webcomics” and the “Webcomics Handbook”- and both offer wonderful technical advice, but Unnatural Talent provided a much more mental state to the arts, which is what I think I needed a lot more.

I am definitely looking forward towards the community aspect- honestly I think that is one of my biggest set backs as a comic artist. I spend so much time in my corner drawing, I have a hard time connecting with other people- and setting the time aside to actually get to know people who I can relate to, and maybe even get to work together at some point to grow as artists together. I can also relate to the small town thing, as I live in one, when my wife and I published our first graphic novel it was such a big deal for people because no one had ever done something like out here. I feel like a pioneer, but at the same time it feels lonely as there isn’t anyone else out here with similar interests.

    Sorry for the long comment!

Andrew, thank you so much for the long reply. It is really great to hear that you connected to some of the things on the podcast. It makes all the effort worth it, so keep it coming. I can assure you we are working hard to get the community aspect of the site up and running in a way that actually allows people to un-isolate themselves. We would have launched with a standard forum, but my feeling is that there needs to be something more meaningful than that. We have been doing our best to make sure that whatever we launch, it will be the best it can be at connecting people together. Keep in touch, and if you ever need to connect email us at makingcomicsdotcom@gmail.com – ask for Patrick. ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel you are right in waiting to make the community the way you envision it, the wait is worth it- and thank you very much for the open offer for getting in touch with you, I will certainly keep that in mind. I will also put in the extra effort to be an active member here in any way I can. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is EXCELLENT guys! Really looking forward to seeing what takes shape. I know personally it would be awesome to be able to connect with other creators who are in the same stages of their storytelling/ comic making adventure as I am (ie: just starting to get the toes wet). The community aspect of this site is very intriguing. Great start boys!

Hey everyone. Thank you very much for the kind words and for listening. My hope is to one day be one of the voices interviewing the artist in your head, all while you’re working on a new panel or idea. Creepy, I know, but it’s only temporary so you’ll get used to it. Trust me. I did. Anyway. Again, thanks for listening. More to come very soon!

Hey guys, thanks for investing your time on this, it is really a great thing to do.
Just a little thing, I recognize this music from incompetech.com ( I have used it for my demo reel ๐Ÿ˜› ) , I know it is free and all, but you may want to credit it next time. Just to help that guy keep his good work as well.
Thanks for the podcast, can’t wait for the next one.

Celso, yes, thank you again. I had it written down and all. I guess in the whole mad dash to get things up and running, it got left out in the cold. I definitely want to make sure I’m giving that artist credit where credit is due. Thanks again for the fire under the backside to make sure that happens.

      P.S. New podcast this Friday!

Great podcast! I am loving all the new content on the site. I had two questions/requests for future content:

    1) Could you explore the idea of being makers as opposed to being just a consumer more? Maybe write an article teaching on that? I found what you had to say very interesting and am interested in hearing more on that topic

    2) Will you be doing some podcasts where you interview other artists, much like what Jason did? And if so, will you be interviewing Jason or any of the artists he interviewed in the past? I’d love to hear from Kazu, Tennapel, Lieske, Peterson, etc. . . again. It’s always interesting to hear other artist’s views and processes.

Adam can probably answer this one better than me, but YES to all of the above! I will also work on that article. I like the idea of expanding on the “consumer vs. maker” mentality and what it means in regards to process. Thanks for the great feedback!

GaBe, thank you very much. Glad you like the podcast and I couldn’t agree more about all the great new content on the site.

I’ll let Patrick handle the article idea you mentioned. In fact, I look forward to that one. Very cool idea.

As for future guests, I would love to have other artists and will definitely be working to get those that Jason had on his show on ours. For now, just to get in the swing of things, I’ve decided to keep the first few episodes nice and easy, talk to a few of the founding fathers, if you will, of the revamped site, including the original maestro himself, Jason Brubaker. But eventually we will be talking to those fantastic artists you mentioned and more. Who knows? Maybe one day I just might ask you to be on the show!

Thanks again for listening, GaBe. New episode this Friday AND we’re now on iTunes! Subscribe!!

I’m so stoked and excited that I came across this site! Ive been drawing off and on my whole life but only recently had any interest in making a comic, and this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! I love the idea of creating a way to help comic makers discover their personal next steps and having community support to back them up.
